WHERE WE'VE COME FROM
Our Journey
Haven Community Church was founded in 2014 by Pastor David and Maria Chen, starting with just 12 people in the Chens' living room. What began as a weekly Bible study in a home has grown into a thriving community of 150+ people from all walks of life.
For over a decade, we've been committed to three core things: knowing Jesus deeply through Scripture, loving our neighbors actively, and serving our community faithfully. Whether you're a lifelong Christian or exploring faith for the first time, you have a place here at Haven.
LEAD PASTORS
Pastor David & Maria Chen
Pastor David grew up in a missionary family and caught a passion for the Gospel early. Maria came to faith during college through a campus ministry. They met at Bible college, fell in love over deep conversations about Scripture, and have been leading faith communities together ever since.
David holds a Master's degree in Biblical Theology. Maria is a trained counselor who brings warmth and wisdom to pastoral care. Together, they've led three church plants and believe that the best churches are places where everyone belongs and nobody is alone.
When they're not at church, David loves hiking and Maria enjoys cooking for community dinners. They have two kids (ages 8 and 5) who are usually at church too — loud and joyful as always.

Maria provides counseling, pastoral care, and leads our women's ministry with warmth and wisdom.

Director of Worship
James leads our worship and believes music is a gateway to encounter with God.
Rebecca Martinez
Community Outreach
Rebecca coordinates our service projects and is passionate about loving our city.
